This is my second posting of this review. I believe Amazon deleted my first review for reasons beyond me. However, I bought the PT-01 usb to archive my vast vinyl collection. It worked great at first, but then the pitch began to fluctuate, which is very noticeable when sustained chords are played in a song. This is also disastrous for any djs archiving their vinyl, because the bpm's must stay constant for mixing. I took my unit in for repair and they replaced the belt drive. It worked great after that....for about two months and then the same thing happened. It appears that the belts being supplied for these turntables are of inferior quality and wear with age. Unacceptable. The other features on this unit are useless. I don't really see a need for a built-in speaker, nor battery-powered capabilities. Bose Wave Music System - Platinum White Right now

First I purchased a rebuilt Bose with the add-on CD unit. It worked very good for a few weeks till I decided to leave it on (for background music for my cats) while going to the next town. After about 3 hours on my return it could not be controlled with any of the 2 remotes. Sent it in for repair. With some delay Bose sent me a new one. Now about 1 year later the New unit is just a digital clock. It will not work with any of the now three remotes and without an on/off switch this second unit is use less.
I'm not sure if I'll send it in for repair( is this going to be a yearly repair) or cut my losses and buy something else.

I chose the Denon 2310ci for several reasons. One is prior experience with my Denon 1903. Denon makes some very powerful and reliable products. The 2310ci has lots of features and plenty of power. The advantages of the Audyssey setup cannot be overstated. This is not a simple graphic equalizer. The resulting sound quality is impressive. I'm driving a set of Definitive Technology Mythos series of speakers and the realism and soundstage size is breathtaking. This receiver has almost every feature you could want and enough juice to power almost any speakers.

As to video, I use the receiver to feed my 60" Pioneer Kuro 141FD plasma via HDMI and the PQ is perfect. Switching inputs is fast.

I've had this for about a year now and it is working flawlessly. Lots of good reviews here read them all. I'll simply repeat to emphasize a few details. Best HTIB on the market period. Automatic speaker calibration with included microphone. Fantastic sound.

Yes speakers are big and heavy. Which I believe goes hand in hand with fantastic sound. The Bose acoustimass cube speakers sound amazing for no bigger than they are but are not fantastic sounding through out the tonal range. They simply do not have the audio range and punch on the mid to lower end due to their small size. I mention this because I believe people incorrectly extrapolate amazing performance with small size because of the cubes into truly fantastic sound of a full sized speaker. Don't confuse amazing with fantastic. For fantastic tonal range and punch you need driver surface area, proper enclosure materials, and proper enclosure size for tonal resonance. I also have omnisats and nansats from Mirage. Amazing speakers but the omnis being larger have better tonal range than the nanos. Great speakers but not for surround imaging, they're for a totally different application. And yes there are better sounding separate speakers like yamaha studios (not sure they even make these anymore), but this is an HTIB. And for that these speakers are the best sounding of the HTIBs. Included speaker wire is a joke. No need to run double ought, 12-14 gauge suffices depending on length. No network update or streaming ability like the 5.1 LG LHB953 but sounds infinitely better. 5 stars would be perfect. I take off one star for those deficiencies, other than that, not much to complain about.

Unit produces a lot of heat, primarily from the power supply side, which is typical for a full power receiver. On first power-on a year ago, I had this in a console with open front and back and with 8 inches of clearance to top and 6 inches on the sides but it was not enough. During the course of a movie the rear surrounds started distorting. I Immediately shut the unit down, noticed the heat, let it cool off and positioned it on a free standing table so it was not confined in any way and has worked flawlessly ever since. which speaks volumes for the final circuit design. I was afraid I had blown the finals but not the case. Don't run this without proper ventilation. You may think there is enough air flow but trust me there isn't. I bought this sound bar to replace a 5 year old home theater system and dvd player. I wanted to get rid of the tangle of wires and cords and improve the dvd player (formerly only 480p). I was willing to lose the "surround sound 6.1" capabilities because my new house does not lend itself currently to descretely wiring all the speakers. The sound from this bar is more than an adequate replacement. Though the sound lacks a little in depth and the surround capabilities are somewhat exaggerated, this sound bar/dvd player combination is well worth the money. No wires everywhere, a clean, good looking package that really improves on the sound of your plasma/lcd/led tv. The subwoofer is huge and does add the requisite rumble but to make the package better, it should be wireless (Why get rid of all cords except the biggest one?) The dvd player work perfectly and the remote is both good looking an very functional. Everyone who can't turn the unit on with the remote hasn't read the directions. Just push the TV button and the unit turns on to the TV source - pretty intuitive. My only true issue with this unit is the often referenced inability to use a single remote for the TV, cable box and HT system. Why Philips does not issue a remote code that can be used with the Cable Box universal remote is beyond me, but for $300 for the complete package, I can overlook this.

Fluttery uneven speed is a fatal flaw.

If you listen to music without any perfectly "constant tones", like rap (with no melody), there's nothing wrong with this turntable.

Otherwise, especially when you hear a piano or an orchestra, I'm annoyed by the flutter in the speed - a rapid repeating speedup-and-slowdown, real fast, maybe 10 times a second, that makes the music "flutter", like when you talk to yourself in front of the spinning blades of a fan. Subtle, but it's DEFINITELY there, and very annoying.

I get around this problem by putting a MASSIVE thick 12-inch clay Victrola record from the 1920's on the turntable, underneath the record I'm playing. That acts as a "flywheel" to add weight and mass to the turntable, and even out the speed, eliminating the flutter. You can stack a couple heavier-weight LPs under your record. (Or, if you're using this to play Victrola records - problem solved right there.)

Then the turntable sounds OK.

But when I turn up the volume, on the loud parts, the amp tries to drive itself harder than it's capable of, and "sucks power" away from the turntable motor, and the speed slows down in the loud parts of the music. That REALLY SUCKS when the orchestra swells then the pitch goes flat.

So, if you DON'T PLAY IT LOUD (connect it to an external amp if you want it loud, don't try to use the internal speaker), and you PUT A COUPLE HEAVY RECORDS ON THE TURNTABLE underneath the one you're playing to even out the flutter, it's fine.

I must be one of the very lucky of the 200 or so people to purchase, and comment about this turntable here on Amazon and not have any issues with it. I have the AT-PL120 connected to the TV inputs of a Sony STR-DH700 and it outputs warm and wonderful analog like no other turntable I've owned, and I've owned a few in my 41 years of existence. I also own a Stanton T.90 USB turntable, and the AT-PL120 sounds much better and they both have the same cartridge installed, a Ortofon Concorde Gold @ 1.5g. Maybe the Audio-Technica quality control people have hit and miss days at the factory.

Now I do not claim to be some audiophile aficionado, rather I am a common vinyl record collector and lover (on a modest budget) since the age of 3 years old when my mom was nice enough to shower me with a record player and records. I've been hooked since then and never gave up collecting even during the rise and fall of cassettes, CD's, Mini Discs. SACD's, and DVD-Audio. Records just have that special something I can't stop loving.

Sony Home Theater System - Silver/ Black (DAVHDZ273) Right now

After researching for months, I (31 yr old guy who likes technology) bought this system ($210.79 out the door) using site to store. It arrived early and in perfect condition. This is my first real (5.1) home theatre system and I have to say I am very pleased after only a few days.
The system is hooked up to a 40" Samsung LCD TV. Set up (which is conveniently run through the TV) was a cinch including running surround cables under the baseboard around the room. The two surround wires are about 33' long and easily made it around my average-sized living room. My previous upconverting DVD player (Phillips) doesn't even touch the quality of this one, although the PS3 is still the way to go if you want the best picture quality. If you told me I was watching a Blue Ray, I probably wouldn't argue unless of course they were side by side. It has really nice darks and lights and very sharp lines (especially after the comparison to the old DVD player). The DVD player itself is a little deeper than anticipated (17"W x 14.5"D x 2.5"H). Don't forget to allow extra room for wires in back. I actually had to carve out the particle board backing to the bottom of the TV stand. Luckily my wife and I are purchasing a real TV stand very soon.
As far as sound goes, I have nothing to really compare to coming from an old two-speaker system. The auto calibration seemed to do the trick for now. I tested (and cranked up) a scene at the end of "The Rock" that has a mix of voice, deep lows, and crisp highs and the system performed flawlessly. It was cool to hear bullets bounce of the walls to my left and right. The bass is not overpowering, but certainly possesses some kick and settings can be changed to suit. The two front and two rear speakers are all identical. The subwoofer measures 8W" x 12.5D" x 12.75H".
Unfortunately, I think some companies adjust their prices according to review ratings, but I couldn't resist giving it 5 stars. I highly recommended this system for the price and quality unless you are a home theatre guru or something and need a million dollar system.
